As Board Certified Oral Surgeons, Dr. Del Valle and Dr. Shahgoli treat comprehensive surgery cases relating to the mouth, teeth, and facial region. The practice specializes in a full-scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with a focus on dental implants, wisdom tooth removal, extractions, impacted canine exposure, facial trauma treatment, bone grafting, oral pathology, TMJ disorder treatment, corrective jaw surgery, apicoectomies, and facial fillers.

To maximize comfort and convenience for patients, we are licensed to provide full IV sedation/general anesthesia capabilities and the office is equipped with a CT scanner.



Your First Visit

We consider your consultation with Manhattan Maxillofacial Surgery Group as a first step in educating you about your oral health status. The dental surgery consultation is a time for the surgeon to understand your worries and expectations. Working in partnership with our patients to obtain the best possible results, we take the extra time to familiarize patients with the intricacies of their case. The doctors discuss the surgical and anesthetic procedures involved and provide you with an effective treatment plan.

If applicable please bring the following to your first appointment:


•  Referral Slip: If you are referred to the practice, please bring the referral slip. If you have not been referred by your health professional, please provide us with your dentist’s information. The practice maintains a close working-relationship with referring doctors to insure both doctor and patient satisfaction with the casework.
•  X-Rays: If your dentist has taken X-rays, you may request that they are emailed to our office.

Financial & Insurance

Manhattan Maxillofacial Surgery Group makes every effort to provide first-class care and convenient financial options for oral surgery needs. To accomplish this we work hand-in-hand with you to maximize insurance reimbursement for procedures. If you have any problems or questions about your insurance coverage, please ask us. Bring your insurance information with you to the consultation so that we can expedite reimbursement. We provide interest free financing. All fees are discussed prior to your procedures.

For your convenience, we are also CareCredit providers and accept all major credit cards.



Surgical Instructions

The oral surgeon will discuss in detail post-up instructions. You may call the office at any time with questions on care instructions after procedures.

Please see below for dental surgery instructions:

Before Anesthesia


•  You may not eat or drink (water included) for eight hours prior to the appointment.
•  An adult must accompany the patient to the office, wait with the patient, and drive the patient home.
•  The patient should not drive a vehicle or operate any machinery for 24 hours following the anesthesia experience.
•  Wear loose fitting clothing and limit makeup and jewelry.
•  If you take routine oral medications, please check with Dr. Del Valle or Dr. Shahgoli prior to your surgical date for instructions.

General Post-Op Instructions


•  Do not rinse your mouth on the day of surgery, begin gently rising the following day, every 3-4 hours (especially after meals) using 1⁄4 teaspoon of salt to a glass of warm water. Continue rinses for several days.
•  Following extractions some bleeding is to be expected. If persistent bleeding occurs, place gauze pads over bleeding area and bite down firmly for 10 minutes. Repeat as necessary until bleeding stops.
•  To reduce swelling, ice packs wrapped in a towel should be applied to affected area one 1⁄2 hour on and one 1⁄2 hour off for 4 to 5 hours.
•  To treat mild to average pain use any non-aspirin type of medication. If you are given a prescribed medication take only as the surgeons have directed.
•  Resume drinking and eating only after the bleeding stops and the anesthesia wears off. Maintain a diet of soft, nutritious foods for the first 24 hours after the procedure.
•  Small sharp bone fragments may work up through the gums during healing; These are not roots, if annoying please return to the office for their simple removal.
